FITC-DEAE-polysucrose

FITC-DEAE-polysucrose

FITC-DEAE-polysucroses are standard FITC-polysucroses carrying cationic (positively charged) diethylaminoethyl (DEAE) groups. All batches are checked for molecular weight, degree of substitution, loss on drying and free FITC. TdB labs produces FITC-DEAE-polysucrose at  molecular weights of 70kDa and 400kDa that are supplied as yellow powders.

Structure
Polysucrose is a high molecular weight sucrose-polymer formed by co-polymerization of sucrose with epichlorohydrin. The molecules are highly branched, and the high content of hydroxyl groups leads to very good solubility in aqueous media. In FITC-DEAE-polysucrose, the content is approximately 5% which is equivalent to about one DEAE-group for every five glucose units. Fluorescein (FITC) groups are introduced by reaction with fluorescein isothiocyanate.

Spectral data
FITC-DEAE-polysucrose has an excitation maximum of 490 – 495 nm and an emission maximum of 520 ± 5 nm at pH 9.

Storage and stability
FITC-DEAE-polysucrose is stable for more than 6 years when stored dry in well-sealed containers at ambient temperature.

Solubility
FITC-DEAE-polysucrose dissolves readily in water.

Application
FITC-DEAE-polysucrose is normally used for studying the permeability of polycationic polymers relative to neutral polymers in organs, tissues and cells. Polysucrose behaves as an ideal neutral sphere. Read more about applications here.
