TRITC-lysine-dextran

TRITC-lysine-dextran

TRITC-lysine-dextran is a dextran derivative carrying both free primary amines and free carboxylates as well as the fluorescent dye Tetramethylrhodamine (TRITC). Lysine is a naturally occurring amino acid and popular moiety for conjugation and fixation in biochemistry and life sciences. TRITC-lysine- dextran is also known as FLUORO-RUBY ® or FLUORORUBY ®. After purification, all batches are checked for molecular weight, degree of substitution, loss on drying and free TRITC. TRITC-lysine-dextrans are supplied as a pink powder. TdB Labs produce TRITC-lysine-dextran from 4 kDa to 500 kDa.

Our high quality TRITC-lysine-dextran offers:

  • Excellent molecular weight distribution (low polydispersity)
  • Bright fluorescence
  • Fixability in cells and tissue
  • Easy conjugation to dyes or biomolecules
  • Full water solubility and excellent stability in solution or on the shelf

Structure
TRITC-lysine dextrans are synthesised from well-characterised dextran fractions derived from Leuconostoc mesenteroides. The dextran fractions are first labelled with lysine and thereafter exposed to TRITC under mild conditions to form TRITC-lysine-dextran. The degree of substitution of lysine is between 0.005-0.03 (mol lysine/mol glucose) and the degree of substitution of TRITC is 0.001-0.01 (mol TRITC/mol glucose).

Spectral data
TRITC has an excitation maximum at 550 nm and an emission maximum at 574 nm. The fluorescence is less dependent on pH than for fluorescein (FITC).

Storage and stability
TRITC-lysine-dextran is stable for more than 6 years when stored dry in well-sealed containers at ambient temperature.

Solubility
TRITC-lysine-dextran dissolves readily in water.

Application
TRITC-lysine-dextran is a versatile tool for bioconjugation and fixation in living systems. Read more about applications here.
