About us

TdB Consultancy AB is a Swedish biotech company specialized in the development and manufacturing of dextran derivatives. In addition, we have expertise in most aspects of polysaccharide chemistry. This includes not only synthesis but also chemical and physical characterization; our latest addition is a GPC system equipped with light-scattering, viscosity and refractive index detection.

We specialize particularly in the synthesis of fluorescent derivatives of polysaccharides. We offer derivatives labelled with FITC, TRITC, ATTO™-dyes and our proprietary Antonia Red™-dye. Our portfolio consists of more than 30 product groups, of which 20 are fluorescent.

All products from TdB Consultancy are of premium quality. Our polysaccharide derivatives have a low polydispersity (PD) and high purity. This is especially important for permeability studies; a low PD gives much more reliable and reproducible result. Using TdB Consultancy products will help our customers achieve their research goals.

All our standard products are of technical grade. Please contact us  if you are interested in products of higher purity. Possible applications of high purity products are for example as part of medical devices. You can read more about our custom specific products here.


Our products are employed widely in Life Sciences ranging from permeability studies, cell preservation, animal studies to applications in processing of clinical products. Dextrans are also used in diagnostic kits and as molecular markers.

Dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) (DB001)

Dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) (DB001)

The DSS is manufactured by sulfation of a selected fraction of dextran. The product is carefully purified from reagents, solvents and by products and is stabilised by a small addition of phosphate salts. DSS is supplied as a white odourless powder which is readily soluble in water. DSS is stable indefinitely when stored in well sealed containers at room temperature. A certificate of analysis is supplied with each batch. The molecular weight range, sulfur content, moisture etc are carefully controlled. NOW AVAILABLE - NEW - FITC-labelled DSS for in vivo tracing of DSS.
